Inside Nordgrow · Build in progress

We are building Nordgrow’s own product workflow around ERPNext. The publishing step inside ERPNext is in place; moving our staging environment to our own hosting and checking the complete route to the storefront are still ahead. This is a development note, not a finished launch announcement.

Start with the product information

A webshop is the visible part of a larger process. Behind each product page sit names, descriptions, images, prices and decisions about what is ready to publish. When that information is maintained independently in several places, even a small change can become repeated work.

Our direction is to manage the product workflow in ERPNext and let the storefront present the information intended for customers. That does not mean every internal field should become public. Deciding which system owns each field, and which fields may be published, is part of the integration work.

What works, and what is not finished

We have reached the point of publishing items from within ERPNext. The next milestone is moving staging to our hosting environment, then continuing the storefront integration and testing. We are not yet presenting this as a fully verified, end-to-end ecommerce workflow.

That distinction matters. A successful action in the back office is only one part of the journey. The useful outcome is the right information appearing in the right place, with a clear way to correct it when something goes wrong.

The checks we want before calling it ready

These are our next verification steps, not a claim that every check has already passed. We will share the results as the build progresses.

Where automation and AI fit

For a small business, the starting question is not “How much can we automate?” It is “Where are we repeatedly copying information, and what would make that process dependable?” Start with one workflow, agree on the source of truth and measure the manual work before and after.

AI may help draft a product description or suggest a category. It should not quietly invent product specifications or become the authority for prices and availability. Our approach is to establish a reliable workflow first, then decide where assisted steps genuinely help.

Building for ourselves, sharing what we learn

This blog will cover our practical work with websites, ERPNext, Frappe and business automation: the decisions, the working pieces and the parts still being tested. Each article will distinguish what is working from what comes next.
